Restaurant prices to decrease on the French Riviera

Your Holiday Home Rental in France has just got a little cheaper as restaurant prices are to decrease on the French Riviera as govt reduces VAT to 5.5% President Sarkozy has announced that VAT in restaurants and hotels will be reduced from 19.6 per cent to 5.5 per cent.

This is good news if you are thinking of booking a French Villa Holiday and the move is very important for the French Riviera, where hospitality is the region's biggest industry. Certain conditions will apply, such as lowering menu prices and hiring more staff. The government hopes the VAT reduction will help to create 100,000 more jobs nationwide by 2010.

Holiday Home Rental in France

Lunch in Cannes yesterday really brought home what a French Villa Holiday is all about. We went by boat from the Cap d'Antibes via the Isle De Lerins and moored in the harbour next to the Festival Hall. Loads of the big Yachts have returned from their winter season in the Caribbean and their is a real buzz about the season to come.

We had fantastic sea food at the superb restaurant Brun, a real institution on the French Riviera and wended our way back via a quick stop at Golfe Juan. It is wet and cold back in the UK and here we are on the Cote d'Azur on the last day of February enjoying life on the Mediterranean, in spring sunshine!
